CLICK HERE to see a short video of September’s SSB Field Day. The camera batteries ran out before we could shoot some more! If you didnt work T32C then you’ll know how this bloke felt! SARC entered the RSGB SSB Field Day in early September this year and set up a 100 watt + single wire antenna (windom) station for the Restricted Section. The results are now published and we have done very well considering the lack of experienced operators and helpers over the weekend. We finished 10th out of 30 entries, doubling our score from last year. The results can be found at: http://www.rsgbcc.org/hf/results/2011/ssbfd2011.shtml LATE FLASH! I’ve just compared the adjudicated score with our actual entry. We claimed 450 scoring contacts with 102 multipliers for 203,184 points. RSGB have credited us for 435 QSOs with 100 multipliers for 193,000 points. That means we lost only 3.3% of our . . . →Read More:SSB Field Day Results The results of this year’s VHF NFD have just been published on the RSGB VHF COntest website at:http://www.rsgbcc.org/vhf/results/11/VHFNFD.html Visit the site (scrolling down past the green text block) and look for our callsign,G2AS/P in the following tables:Overall Result:Mix and Match Section:7th out of 12 entries 50MHz (Restricted Section):11th out of 27 entries 144MHz (Open Section):16th out of 21 entries 432MHz (Restricted Section):7th out of 15 entries 1296MHz (Low Power Section):3rd out of 5 entries In regard to the scoring, the following table shows the percentage reduction of contacts and points after the logs had been adjudicated. In spite of being short of 4 operators and having a generator failure just 7 minutes before the start of the contest (!),we managed 203,184 points (including 102 DXCC multipliers) from 452 QSOs. This is over twice last year’s score from the same location and should put us in the top ten! We had only four experienced contesters on hand (G0HSA,G3PHO,M0GAV on HF and G8EQD on VHF) …not . . . →Read More:SARC enters G2AS/P in RSGB SSB Field Day:3-4 September 2011 G2AS/P entered the UK Microwave Group’s first Microwave Field Day on August 7th and the results which have just been published show us in certificate winning positions! 23cm:SECOND POSITION 10GHz:THIRD POSITION OVERALL:SECOND. The winners in all three sections shown above were the GM3SEK/P group operating from IO74 in Galloway,SW Scotland. Our certificates will be presented next April at UK Microwave Group annual convention at Martlesham. Well done folks and in particular well done to Ken M6KJP who had a hand in G2AS/P working the Scottish station.
MICROWAVE FIELD DAY 2011 REPORT FROM G2AS/P Outside the occasional club lecture by G3PHO,Sheffield ARC members had not experienced microwave radio before this event so it was good to see the following club . . . →Read More:G2AS/P in the First UK Microwave Field Day The results of the RSGB 80m CC 2011 have just been announced and SARC have finished 22nd out of some 91 clubs in the final league table. This is a particularly good effort as the numbers of SARC members taking part this year was considerably down on previous years, the bulk of the points being scored by the “regulars”G0HSA,G3PHO,G4FAL,M0GAV and M0JMO. Mention must be made of G6DCT who, with low power and a simple antenna did some sterling work in the datamodes section. The full results table can be found at: http://www.rsgbcc.org/hf/results/2011/80mcc2011.shtml This cumulative contest takes place each month from January to July on the first Monday, second Wednesday and the third Thursday of each month. . . . →Read More:SARC finish in top 25% of Clubs in 2011 RSGB 80m Club Contest series

You can see the full results table at: http://www.rsgbcc.org/vhf/results/10/VHFNFD.html Overall the results for G2AS/P are only fair and I think we are capable of a much higher position. Only one of the four stations we fielded reached what would be excellent log keeping standards so congrats to the 50MHz ops at G2AS/P who lost only 0.7% of the claimed points score! The other three stations,144,432 and 1296MHz were not so fortunate with losses of between 9.7 and 30% (yes, thirty percent of the claimed score lost!). A good performance would be around 5% average.
