SARC entered the RSGB SSB Field Day in early September this year and set up a 100 watt + single wire antenna (windom) station for the Restricted Section. The results are now published and we have done very well considering the lack of experienced operators and helpers over the weekend. RSGB have credited us for 435 QSOs with 100 multipliers for 193,000 points. M0GAV operates G2AS/P in SSB FD Sept 2011 Those of you who did not manage to get to SARC’s SSB field day station last weekend missed a really good time. In spite of being short of 4 operators and having a generator failure just 7 minutes before the start of the contest (!),we managed 203,184 points (including 102 DXCC multipliers) from 452 QSOs. This is over twice last year’s score from the same location and should put us in the top ten! We had only four experienced contesters on hand (G0HSA,G3PHO,M0GAV on HF and G8EQD on VHF) …not . . . →Read More:SARC enters G2AS/P in RSGB SSB Field Day:3-4 September 2011 G2AS/P entered the UK Microwave Group’s first Microwave Field Day on August 7th and the results which have just been published show us in certificate winning positions! 23cm:SECOND POSITION 10GHz:THIRD POSITION OVERALL:SECOND. The winners in all three sections shown above were the GM3SEK/P group operating from IO74 in Galloway,SW Scotland. Our certificates will be presented next April at UK Microwave Group annual convention at Martlesham. Well done folks and in particular well done to Ken M6KJP who had a hand in G2AS/P working the Scottish station.

All being well we will run it from Wharncliffe Chase,1012ft ASL,where the land drops away all round giving a good take off in all directions. Access has been arranged for the site. As it is a low power contest we will run from batteries. We have a choice of aerials,1 x 18 ele,2 x 18 ele stacked or a 6 over 6 skeleton slot. all will be rotatable. You can see the full results table at: http://www.rsgbcc.org/vhf/results/10/VHFNFD.html Overall the results for G2AS/P are only fair and I think we are capable of a much higher position. Only one of the four stations we fielded reached what would be excellent log keeping standards so congrats to the 50MHz ops at G2AS/P who lost only 0.7% of the claimed points score! The other three stations,144,432 and 1296MHz were not so fortunate with losses of between 9.7 and 30% (yes,thirty percent of the claimed score lost!). A good performance would be around 5% average.
